The Assam government has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with six organisations. This will help promote the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) across the state in school education.
Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu said the partnerships will be inclusive and offer a learner-focused education system for teachers. Each organisation will work in a particular area. These areas include teacher training and digital skills along with personalised learning and student assessment.
According to PTI reports, Pegu wrote in a post on X, “A significant step towards future-ready education in Assam! Attended the MoU signing ceremony between @Samagra_Assam and six leading organisations to harness the potential of Artificial Intelligence, technology and innovation to strengthen school education across the State.”
The partnership with Google AI will focus on making teachers familiar with AI-based educational tools, digital skills and opportunities for professional development. IIT Madras and Bodhan AI collaboration will work on improving AI skills among teachers. This partnership has a target of training around one lakh teachers teaching classes 6 to 12 by May 2027.
The collaboration between LEHS and Wadhwani AI will use AI-based assessments that can support foundational literacy by assessing reading fluency. Educate Girls partnership will work to identify and bring out-of-school kids back into education by improving the enrolment of girls.
EkStep-AXL partnership will also support personalised learning using AI tools. Meanwhile, Canva Education will focus on spreading digital literacy, creativity, design thinking and innovation among teachers and students.
The Assam government said these collaborations will broaden the use of technology in classrooms. This can help teachers adopt new tools and approaches. The initiative will also create better learning opportunities for students and make education accessible to all.
Speaking on these MoUs, Pegu also said, “These collaborations mark an important step towards creating a technology-enabled, inclusive and learner-centric education ecosystem, while empowering our teachers and expanding learning opportunities for every child.”
