Bihar Public Service Commission announces 32,388 school teacher vacancies under TRE 4

The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has started the application process for the fourth phase of its Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE). The commission shared this in a post on X on August 18, 2026. The post says that the recruitment will include hiring for school levels, from primary to senior classes.

The teacher recruitment process will be organised for vacancies available for four teaching levels that include primary for Classes 1 to 5, middle for Classes 6 to 8, secondary for Classes 9 to 10 and senior secondary for Classes 11 to 12.

Candidates can start the online application process from September 1, 2026, with the registration window closing on September 30, 2026. Applications will be accepted through the commission's official website, bpsc.bihar.gov.in. To avoid any last-minute hassles, applicants are advised to complete the online application well before the deadline ends.

What to know before applying

Candidates have to clear the teacher eligibility exam required for the level they are applying for. For primary-level posts, candidates have to qualify for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) paper 1 or the Bihar Teacher Eligibility Test (BTET) paper 1.

For teachers applying to teach in Classes 6 to 8, CTET Paper 2 or BTET Paper 2 qualification is required. Candidates who want to apply for secondary-level posts must qualify for the State Teacher Eligibility Test (STET) paper 1, while those for Class 11 to 12 teacher posts need to clear STET Paper 2.

Since educational qualifications may differ from post to post, candidates can apply for more than one post. For primary teacher vacancy applications, candidates should hold a two-year diploma in primary and upper-primary teaching. Similarly, candidates who possess a B.Ed degree shall become eligible for vacant teacher positions in middle, secondary, and senior secondary schools.
