Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has called off its recruitment of 1,711 assistant professor posts. The advertisement for the speciality assistant professor was for the government colleges and hospitals across the state. The decision follows the withdrawal of Bihar Department’s earlier requisition to fill the vacancies.
The cancellation is for 25 advertisements issued on 04 April 2025 for filling up of regular appointments in various medical specialities. BPSC said that after the department sends the revised proposal of vacancies, a new recruitment notice will be issued.
However, the commission has not mentioned any timeline for issuing the new notification. The revised requisition will define the requirements for the next recruitment round, which will include the number of positions to be advertised.
The last recruitment was for the posts of assistant professors in various speciality departments like paediatrics, anatomy, anaesthesia, general medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, biochemistry, pathology, radiology and microbiology.
The latest notice by the commission said the advertisements were withdrawn as the Health Department had withdrawn its earlier request for appointments. The department has to send a ‘revised requisition’ to the BPSC before starting the recruitment process.
These posts have been cancelled and the advertisements for April 2025 will not be used for recruitment to these posts. Candidates waiting for the assistant professor recruitment at medical colleges will have to wait for the fresh notification to know the revised vacancy count and selection criteria.
The next advertisement is likely to mention the eligibility criteria, application dates, vacancy details and other terms and conditions of recruitment. Until then candidates can check updates on the official BPSC website.
