The Delhi University Teachers Association (DUTA) has demanded the immediate withdrawal of show-cause notices that were issued to three Hindu College teachers. These teachers include the President and Secretary of the Hindu College Staff Association (HCSA) and a senior faculty.
DUTA also wants an independent inquiry into alleged administrative and financial irregularities reported at the college. The association released this statement amid the continuing dispute between the college administration and HCSA over the admission process for the current academic year.
The staff association had earlier raised concerns over the allocation of Sports and Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA) quota seats in undergraduate programmes and also passed a no-confidence motion against Anju Srivastava, the principal at Hindu College.

HCSA said that the number of extra seats allocated under the Sports and ECA quotas was more than the permissible limit. Each undergraduate course can have Sports and ECA seats up to a maximum of 20 percent of its total seats. DUTA alleged that the allocation of Sports and ECA seats was not even across courses.
According to the association, of the 48 Sports and ECA seats, 17 were allocated to B.Com (Hons) and 15 to BA (Hons) Political Science. The University of Delhi said that the allocation was due to an error in the admission algorithm and that candidates were selected based on their sports and ECA scores.
The teachers also raised concerns about how statutory bodies function and other administrative decisions. The HCSA began a protest on September 14, 2026, with students of the college.
The governing body then issued show-cause notices to teachers, claiming misconduct, indiscipline and insubordination. DUTA has now asked for notices to be withdrawn. They have argued that “teachers who raise concerns about irregularities should not face pressure or disciplinary action.”
The staff association has also demanded that an independent and impartial investigation at Hindu College should be conducted under the supervision of the High Court. DUTA said such an inquiry will examine the actual facts and bring them before teachers, students and the public.
