In the recent QS Global MBA and Business Master’s Rankings 2027 released on September 16, 2026, nineteen Indian business schools have made it to the list. Three Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) have secured places among the world’s top 100 MBA institutions. According to a Press Trust of India report, the decline is because they have lower scores on value for money and financial returns.
These three IIMs are the only Indian institutions that are ranked in the global top 100 for MBA programmes, but all three have slipped in their overall rankings. IIM Bangalore ranked joint 64th globally, which is down by 12 places when compared to last rankings. IIM Ahmedabad, on the other hand, also fell 12 positions to joint 70th rank. Meanwhile, IIM Calcutta has dropped 31 places to score a 95th rank.
These rankings have reviewed 420 MBA programmes across 65 countries and territories around the world. Five new institutions from India have been added to the list. The new additions include OP Jindal Global University, Jaipuria Institute of Management, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, and Vikrant University, Gwalior.

QS has clarified that these are comparative ranking scores and do not mean a direct fall in graduates’ salaries.
Nunzio Quacquarelli, QS president, said the Indian business schools in the rankings are increasing, and that reflects their global reputation is increasing. Though he said that, Indian business schools still face tough competition from global institutions with respect to jobs, entrepreneurship and the success of the alumni.
