The new Leh campus of IIM Jammu is expected to be more than a teaching centre. According to IIM Jammu, the new campus will also support entrepreneurship, innovation, incubation, executive education, skill development and research.
The campus will offer programmes and services like career counselling, faculty development and capacity-building initiatives for government officials and other stakeholders involved. It will also work on activities like research, consultancy and mentoring.
The four-year BBA programme will be the campus’s first course that will be taught. IIM Jammu said the programme will allow students to study management while getting exposed to the social and economic situations of Ladakh.
The institute and the UT administration said the collaboration will help give access to management education in the region and contribute towards developing local skills and entrepreneurship.
The initiative will also boost the academic and knowledge ecosystem in Ladakh by linking higher education with regional development and creating job opportunities for students, researchers and entrepreneurs.
