IIT Delhi class of 2000 pledges record Rs 70 crore at silver jubilee reunion.

The batch of 2000 of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has announced a pledge of over Rs 70 crore to the institute, marking the highest financial commitment made by a single graduating batch in IIT Delhi’s history.

The announcement was made during the silver jubilee reunion of the Class of 2000, held on the IIT Delhi campus, which brought together alumni from across India and abroad.

As per the institute, the reunion served as a platform for alumni to reconnect with their alma mater through campus visits, interactions with faculty members, and engagement with current students.

“The gathering provided an opportunity for alumni to reconnect with the Institute through campus visit, interactions with faculty, and engagement with current students, reflecting the batch’s enduring bond with IIT Delhi,” the institute said.

IIT Delhi endowment support and long-term institutional impact

IIT Delhi states that a substantial portion of the pledged amount will be allocated to IIT Delhi’s General Endowment, providing the Institute with long-term financial flexibility.

The endowment will support a wide range of initiatives, including strengthening academic programmes, advancing research and innovation, enhancing student scholarships, supporting faculty excellence, and enabling strategic and philanthropic priorities aligned with IIT Delhi’s evolving needs.

Speaking on behalf of the batch, Rohit Dube, alumnus of IIT Delhi and batch fundraising lead, said the contribution was driven by a collective sense of responsibility and shared ownership.

“This was not about the headline number. It was about participation and shared ownership. Our batch wanted to contribute in a way that would create sustained impact over decades,” he said.

Welcoming the announcement, Nilanjan Senroy, dean of alumni relations at IIT Delhi, said the commitment demonstrated the deep sense of belonging IIT Delhi’s alumni feel towards the institution.

He added that the pledge would significantly strengthen the Institute’s efforts across education, research, and infrastructure, while also serving as an inspiration for future batches to come together in support of IIT Delhi’s continued growth.

IIT Delhi said alumni contributions continue to play a vital role in enhancing academic excellence, expanding research capacity, and increasing the Institute’s societal impact.

“The pledge by the Class of 2000 stands as a testament to the power of collective alumni action in shaping the Institute’s future,” the official press release said.
