The Centre for Cyber Security and Cyber Security of Cyber-Physical Systems Innovation Hub (C3iHub), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur, has entered into a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University (DBRAU), Agra, and the Vivekanand Incubation Foundation (VIF) to start a new vocational programme in cybersecurity.
The programme will be launched for students across the university's affiliated institutions. This initiative will benefit more than 3 lakh students studying across more than 570 colleges, making cybersecurity education more accessible.
Congratulating the team, Ashu Rani, professor at IIT Kanpur, said, “Cybersecurity is no longer a specialised subject for engineers alone; it is a basic life skill. This partnership with C3iHub, IIT Kanpur, and the Vivekananda Incubation Foundation allows us to offer that skill to our students at scale, in their own language.”

This vocational programme will be conducted in fully online mode and delivered in Hindi to build foundational knowledge of cybersecurity. The instructions in Hindi will make technical education more inclusive, especially for students from semi-urban and rural areas who might find cybersecurity courses difficult in English.
The IIT Kanpur course will introduce students to important cybersecurity topics, including cybercrime, cyber hygiene, social media risks, identity theft, data leaks, online safety for women and children, the dark web, cyber terrorism, and other illegal online activities.
Customised virtual labs will offer practical experience and help them understand real-world cybersecurity challenges. As part of the collaboration, C3iHub will also develop the course using IIT Kanpur’s expertise in cybersecurity research and training.
