The Indian Institute of Technology Patna (IIT Patna) and Indian Institute of Management Bodh Gaya (IIM Bodh Gaya) have launched a five-year dual degree programme for BTech graduates. The programme is designed for “technocrats” by combining engineering, science, and interdisciplinary courses with business education.
The five-year dual degree programme, jointly launched by IIT Patna and IIM Bodh Gaya have a total of 60 seats. The course follows a 3+2 model where BTech students will complete their three-year engineering degree at IIT Patna and then transition to IIM Bodh Gaya for their two-year MBA programme.
“A key highlight of this collaboration between two rapidly growing Institute(s) of National Importance is that eligible candidates gain admissions directly through the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counselling based on their Joint Entrance Examination(Advanced) rank, allowing them to secure a prestigious management seat without appearing for the Common Admission Test(CAT),” according to an official statement.
The programme cycle for the 5-year dual degree course is designed to integrate the distinct academic traditions of both institutions.
The upcoming batches will attend their induction ceremony at IIT Patna, and they will be awarded the joint degree certificate in the convocation event at IIM Bodh Gaya, as per the official notification.
“To support students through this rigorous academic journey, IIM Bodh Gaya and IIT Patna shall provide the necessary Need-Based Financial Assistance (NBFA) for the respective MBA and BTech fee component in accordance with their prevailing scholarship policies,” the statement read.
Notably, on completion of the dual degree course, a joint placement support shall be provided by the IIT Patna and IIM Bodh Gaya placement cells.
