The Maharashtra government has formed a high-level committee under the chairmanship of the chief secretary to examine the possibilities of conducting government examinations in the online mode across the state. The decision was announced through a government resolution issued by the Higher and Technical Education Department.

The move comes against the concerns over the security and transparency of offline examinations in Maharashtra, including the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) paper leak last month.

This MAHA TET case led to an investigation by the Maharashtra police, and as a result, several individuals, including officials and middlemen, were arrested.

According to the notice, the committee has been formed following an announcement made during the 2026 monsoon session of the Maharashtra legislative assembly.

The committee has been tasked with examining all aspects related to shifting examinations currently conducted in the offline mode to the online mode. The government has directed the committee to submit its report within two months
