Maharashtra TET 2026 postponed over paper leak allegations

Maharashtra State Council of Examination (MSCE), Pune has postponed the Maharashtra Teacher Eligibility Test (MAHA TET) exam which was scheduled to be held on June 28. The exam stands postponed following allegations of paper leak in Bhiwandi. According to the official notice, the examination has been postponed to ensure a fair and transparent process and to facilitate a detailed investigation into the alleged irregularities.

The Maharashtra TET 2026 was scheduled to be held on June 28 across 1,028 examination centres in the state. Considering the irregularities reported during the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, NEET 2026 examination, the Maharashtra State Council of Examination had put all necessary security measures in place. However, it later received information that some individuals in Bhiwandi were allegedly in possession of details related to the question paper.

Acting on the tip-off, the Bhiwandi Police conducted a raid at the location. After this, officials from the Maharashtra State Council of Examination were called in to assist with the investigation. A preliminary verification revealed that some of the questions recovered from the individuals matched the June 2026 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) question paper. Based on the findings, the Bhiwandi Police registered a criminal case.

"Considering the situation, the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) scheduled to be held on June 28, 2026, has been postponed. The examination has been deferred as the Maharashtra State Council of Examination is committed to conducting it with absolute transparency. It was also considered necessary to carry out a thorough investigation into the matter," the notice, originally issued in Marathi, stated.

MAHA TET pattern

The MAHA TET 2026 comprises two papers, Paper I and Paper II, which are conducted on the same day in separate shifts. The examination is held in offline mode, and candidates are required to mark their responses on an OMR sheet.
