Minority affairs ministry selects NIFTEM Kundli to train over 2,000 youth under PM Vikas scheme

The National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management (NIFTEM) Kundli has partnered with the Ministry of Minority Affairs to train a total of 2,110 youth under the PM VIKAS (Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan) scheme after it was selected as a Project Implementing Agency (PIA) by the ministry.

The NIFTEM Kundli will train over two thousand youth from the minority community under three categories - Multi Skill Technician (Food Processing), Millet Products Processor and Assistant Baking Technician across Jharkhand, Bihar, Punjab and Haryana.

The collaboration aims to enhance the employability of minority communities and create better livelihood opportunities by providing market and credit linkages to involve them into the economic mainstream, according to an official statement.

The NIFTEM Kundli is a National Importance Institute (INI) selected as Project Implementing Agency (PIA) for the PM Vikas scheme by the ministry.

Youth skill programme to begin from January 2026

“The PM Vikas scheme is aimed at developing the capacity of youth from minority communities through targeted interventions by providing skill training support in need-based courses and ensuring employment /livelihood opportunities for them,” the official press release said.

The youth will be equipped with National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) compliant skill training through National Council of Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) approved courses.

Under the scheme, they will also provide placement of eligible skilled beneficiaries in some form of employment such as wage, self-employed, or apprenticeship, including opportunities in the organised sector.

Participants will receive certificates from institutions approved by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The programme will begin from January 2026.
