NIIT University launched AI Center of Excellence with enterprise-grade GPU infrastructure 07 October 2026 to focus on AI Education. The center gives first-year students hands-on experience with the latest technologies from NVIDIA.
According to the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM), India will require over 1.25 million artificial intelligence professionals by 2027. This high-performance computing hub was established by officials to fill the current gaps in the industry with experiential learning and advanced technology deployment.
The institution launched three YodaEdge appliances, each able to support 30 concurrent users for data-heavy research. Scholars and professors can use the safe environment to experiment with modern machine learning frameworks and enterprise deployment strategies.

The facility combines an enterprise-grade technology stack with NeMo, NIM Microservices, PyTorch and JupyterLab and NVIDIA DGX YodaEdge systems. These tools are used by researchers for model training, optimisation and deployment tasks.
Students build generative AI applications, agentic systems, and retrieval-augmented generation pipelines. The curriculum is based on multi modal models for vision, speech and reasoning, smart healthcare solutions and intelligent internet of things systems.

“At NIIT University, we believe artificial intelligence should not only be taught, it should be built. The AI Centre of Excellence reflects our commitment to experiential learning, giving students access to the same class of infrastructure and NVIDIA Technologies used by leading AI organizations worldwide, right from the start of their degree. This positions our graduates to enter the workforce with practical, deployment-ready experience rather than theoretical knowledge alone,” said Prakash Gopalan, president, NIIT University on the launch of AI Centre of Excellence.
Practical exposure is still provided across undergraduate programs through industry projects, summer internships and with a six-month industry practice program. Thirty-five percent of the curriculum emphasises hands-on learning through working with industry partners.
