The Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education (CETE) at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) has released fifty Open Educational Resources (OERs) which can be used by teachers and teacher educators for their learning. Along with the resources, CETE has also released a guidebook which explains how teachers can use, adapt, create and share open educational resources.
The resources have been developed through more than a period of ten years of CETE’s research, fieldwork and teacher training work. These resources include subjects like English, Mathematics, Science and Social Sciences, along with different areas of teaching and learning. The resources are prepared by TISS in English, Hindi, Telugu, Assamese and several other Indian languages.
The modules in the handbook are made as learning and reference materials rather than just formal courses. These resources will help teachers improve their knowledge and skills. After the teachers complete studying these courses, they will not get any certificate, but the learning will help in a teacher’s professional development.

P Gopinath, Dean and professor at the School of Education, TISS, has highlighted the importance of the initiative from TISS, which will boost the institution's ongoing work in teacher education. He said that mixing technology with teaching methods can help improve the quality of education. He added that the newly released OER resources will be useful to both teachers and students.
Teacher educators and trainers can use RTICT OERs to hold training programmes through their own institutional platforms. They can also issue certificates to those who participate in these training courses.
The certificates should clearly mention that the training was organised by the respective trainer or institution. These should also mention that the learning materials that were used in the training programme are based on RTICT OERs, which have been developed by CETE at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
