The University Grants Commission (UGC) has asked the universities and autonomous colleges to submit consolidated reports on the activities organised under the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam (ABSS) 2026. The last date to submit the reports is September 15, 2026.
ABSS is organised every year in July to celebrate the anniversary of the launch of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The programme also provides an opportunity to review the progress made in implementing the policy and discuss its impact on higher education.
The notice, which was addressed to vice-chancellors of universities and directors and principals of autonomous colleges, reads “I am sure that your Institute must have organised various activities during July, 2026 on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the NEP 2020, with the objective of strengthening awareness, participation and ownership of the ongoing educational reforms as per the NEP 2020.”

UGC has asked universities and autonomous colleges to share details of activities organised in July. The Higher Educational Institutions (HEI) should prepare a consolidated report that includes the various activities held as part of ABSS 2026. The report must include details of the events, key discussions, innovative initiatives and best practices that were adopted by the institutions.
HEIs have also been asked to mention the outcomes and recommendations that have come up from the activities. The reports will help present the initiatives which were undertaken by higher education institutions during the ABSS programme.
The UGC has asked the universities and autonomous colleges to upload their reports on the UGC’s University Activity Monitoring Portal (UAMP), uamp.ugc.ac.in. The Commission said the ABSS is an annual platform to review and discuss the progress of NEP 2020 implementation. The UGC has also asked for continued support from HEIs to help boost the quality of higher education across the country.
